Japanese Style Breaded Chicken with Sweet Chili Crisp Drizzle

Chicken Katsu
This method is known as Chicken Katsu in Japan, which means chicken "cutlet." It's made with thin sliced breaded chicken breasts. I love its simplicity--and I love it even more with this sweet and spicy sauce drizzled on top!

Ingredients

1 lb thinly sliced chicken breasts

salt and pepper

3/4 cup flour

1 egg plus 2 teaspoons water, whisked well

1 cup panko or breadcrumbs (plus more as needed)

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/4 cup Maya Kaimal Chili Crisp

1/4 cup Japanese BBQ Sauce, such as Bachan’s

Preparation

Step 1
Season the sliced chicken breast with salt and pepper.

Step 2
Place flour, egg, and panko in three shallow bowls. Dredge each chicken slice in flour, then egg, then panko and set aside.

Step 3
Heat the oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Fry them about 3 minutes a side, or until golden and cooked through.

Step 4
In a small bowl, combine the Maya Kaimal Chili Crisp and the Japanese BBQ sauce together.

Step 5
Drizzle each piece of chicken with the sauce, and serve with rice and a green vegetable. Enjoy!
